10 Golden Safety Rules :
- 1 - Respect other skiers to avoid putting them at risk.
- 2 - Control your speed so that you can adjust your speed to your ability and to the snow conditions, to the gradient of the slope, to weather conditions and to the number of skiers on the slopes around you.
- 3 - Give way to the skier in front of you : A skier must give way to skiers in front of him, and thus below him on the slope which therefore means he must choose his trajectory in relation those in front to ensure a safe descent.
- 4 - Keep your distance when overtaking another skier which include overtaking skiers in front of and below you, skiers on your right and your left. You must always leave a good distance to account for loss of control and collision (which is the cause of many a serious accident).
- 5 - Do not stop in areas that are narrow or have poor visibility in case of a fall clear the slope as quickly as possible (or help another skier to clear the slope to avoid a collision).
- 6 - Make sure another skier is not coming when setting off down a slope or at a junction to avoid an accident..
- 7 - Walking up or down a slope : you must at all costs use the edge of the slope if you have to walk up or down a slope and thus you will not be in the way of skiers.
- 8 - Respect the markings and signalling which means you must take into account information on the weather conditions, on slope conditions, snow, do not remove markers from slope-side, do not cross or loosen rope barriers.
- 9 - Help in the event of an accident : If you are witness to an accident, you must make yourself available by raising the alarm and trying to find make the zone safe (place a person above the accident area, put your skis in a cross above the accident zone, etc.).
